New Rug

We bought a rug for the living room a couple weeks ago from T.J.Maxx. Ben spotted it first and loved it, and I did too...and since we'd already been looking online and at stores for a couple months and since the price was right, we bought it then and there! It definitely makes the living room more comfortable.

Pizza and Breadsticks

Just wanted to post these pictures of my homemade breadsticks and pizza...mmm!

I'm also hungry right now, which may be why I've decided it so important to suddenly blog about this...

Chelsea's Wedding

Whitney (Chelsea's sister), Me, and Chelsea

Just wanted to mention Chelsea, a good friend from middle and high school--what a gorgeous bride! She was stunning, the ceremony was beautiful, the reception was fabulous...what a great celebration!

5 Year Anniversary

I guess I should change my blog title from "Everyday Megan" to "Once-A-Month If You're Lucky Megan". *sigh* Here is a long overdue post.

July 30th was our 5 year anniversary! I can't believe how the time has flown by. I love my husband so dearly and am so thankful God brought him to me!

To celebrate, we went to Stoney River, a nice restaurant where Ben ordered take-out food for us on the night he proposed (Oct. 22nd, 2004). We got an appetizer of homemade chips with blue cheese. Ben had filet, of course, and I ordered beef ribs...if you've never had this (and I hadn't), it's like roast beef--SO delicious! Our server asked what had brought us in that night, and since he knew it was our anniversary, he brought us a free piece of chocolate cake...as if I could fit any more food! It was a fun dinner, complete with dinner questions ("In what ways have I rubbed off on you over the years?" etc.).

Thinking back over the* last 5 years, I decided to note some of the biggest milestones of each year:

2005: Married in July...getting used to married life and loving it!
2006: We pay off Ben's car--we're debt free!
2007: I get an internship at E.ON...where will this lead?
2008: We buy our first house...can't believe it!
2009: My job takes us to Germany and we travel all over Europe for 18 weeks!
2010: Ben gets a web development job he loves; Ben and Megan take over leadership of Bible Bowl!

...and who knows what the future will bring! We take comfort that God is always in control and he will provide all our needs!

Happy 25th Birthday, Ben!

For Ben's 25th birthday, Ben's parents took us to Corbett's, this really fancy restaurant near us that they have been wanting to take us to for a while. It is like a huge house and was so gorgeous on the inside, and it had this amazing stone basement where we decided we will have to sit next time we go.

We were brought barbecued duck with a ginger peach chutney on top before our meals...I'm usually not a big duck fan, but it was just a bite and all the other flavors made it really delicious. Then came my salad, with haricots vert (green beans), potatoes, olives, tomatoes, bibb lettuce, and hard boiled egg tossed in a vinagrette--very different, very tasty!

My main course was salmon- and mascarpone-stuffed ravioli in a lemon caper sauce. Delicious!

Ben got filet, of course, and Deena has the NY strip. Carl's fried chicken looked really good and I wouldn't mind trying that if I ever go back.

They brought us out a free dessert for Ben's birthday--coconut macaroons with ice cream.

Deena and I split chocolate-filled empandas with dulce de leche ice cream...mmmmmmmmmm!

As usual, we had a great time with the Kuhls and can't wait for the next trip back!
