Jenn and Scott had us over for lunch on Sunday, along with my parents. Wes and Leslie just bought a house, so they weren't able to make it...oh the joys of moving! As usual, Jenn made everything gourmet and delicious and fabulous! She got that talent from Mom...a talent I aspire to have! The table scape was all fall, and we even had name plates. Jenn made every one and they were all different and so cute!
To start, she made butternut squash soup and crispy sage leaves. SO GOOD!
The main course was a roast with carrots, turnips, and beets. Ben said after dinner that he was a little bit suspicious of eating those veggies, but afterward he loved them! Jenn makes everything wonderful! All the veggies of the season, and she brought it all together into a masterpiece. She also had baked macaroni and cheese (with spelt noodles) and rolls. The perfect, hearty meal to have on a fall afternoon. For dessert, we had the choice of cake with either raspberries or chocolate, along with hot apple cider. We ended up sitting outside with our cider because it was cool, but sunny, and a really beautiful day. Too bad every day isn't a day like that!
You are too sweet! I love entertaining, especially entertaining you and Mom since I know you all appreciate it! We had a fun day!
ReplyDeleteOmylanta! We had a great time, too! And I am inspired to use the veggies like that! Even the weather cooperated to make a perfect day!
